Mind Games: Trepidation
Mind Games is a series of six interactive books revolving around horror, sci-fi, supernatural elements, and romance.
Mind Games: Trepidation is the first title in the series. Currently, only Chapters 1-6 are available. There is expected to be 9 chapters in total, along with an Epilogue.
You will be hunted. You will be the hunter. How you let this define and change you will cause sway in the story and in what few allies you manage to scrape together. You are an Alpha: a superhuman, or maybe more than human, with abilities that have no magical bearing. And, what's more, you're quite powerful for one… not that you have much to compare yourself to, given Alphas have mostly been hunted into oblivion in your world. A failed attempt at militarizing a 'growing danger' is what they called it, twenty-five years ago. Twenty-five years ago when the mass majority of the world's governing bodies pressed forward laws and regulations, allowing people like you to be killed in the street for existing. Nowadays, the Advocacy of Peace is tasked with continuing to kill Alphas… and govern Supernaturals, as people in 'the know' are aware.
However, as a group that stands for peace, they've taken to employing Alphas the same as Supers… even if there are rumors saying that Alphas go missing in their employment far more often than they should. Whether that holds true or not is entirely up to you to figure out for yourself.
And, as if this didn't make your life hard enough, the Centennial Celebration of your hometown of Armington and The Orchard that led to the founding the town itself is coming quickly on the horizon, and a strange disease is moving through the Super population across the globe at the same time… a disease that started in Armington itself, before spreading.
Unfortunately for you, you'll be stuck in the eye of this hurricane from Hell, trying to help peace-keep the town in these trying times… while looking over your shoulder every step of the way. After all, as a private investigator that works closely with the sheriff who is most definitely 'in the know', you get dragged into everything from lost cats to rampaging Supers on stimulants.
Features:
- Six romantic options, and only one is restricted by gender of the main character (this character being Fawn).
- The ability to select your first and last name, gender, pronouns, sexuality, along with asexuality, which will NOT lock you out of romances nor NSFW scenes in later books.
- To go with the previous item on the list, the later books will also have optional NSFW scenes. (This one does not, however.)
- Choices that will matter, and choices that characters in the game with you will notice. And not everyone will always agree with what you do... or don't do.
- Special page under the "Stats Page" section that acts as a dictionary, providing definitions for words you may be unfamiliar with in game.
- Save System (should work, but it's a little finnicky. Please let me know if you encounter any issues)
- TBD
The Romantic Options:
Freja Ellingboe: The Commanding Agent of her team, Freja can be brutally blunt and has little patience for those unable to focus on the task at hand during working hours. It doesn't help that even outside of work, she's rather reserved... mostly because she suffers from massive amounts of social anxiety. Despite this, she has nothing but warmth in her heart for her team and even their wrangler, even if she has a hard time showing it.
Adontis: The second-in-command to Freja, Adontis is almost opposite to her in personality. He's rather amiable and smooth, and as such, handles the part of their job that requires a... diplomatic touch. However, it can be challenging to get to know him on a personal level, as he's well-versed in deflection tactics and doesn't deal well with the whole "getting to know you on a personal level" bits. He's also one of the oldest beings currently still in existence.
Fawn: Fawn is... hard to describe. Cagey, edging on hostile, and reluctant to deal with people in every way possible. She's been betrayed far too many times, and after the third time she had to deal with the loss of everyone close to her, she's incredibly reluctant to trust anyone. She doesn't even go by her true name: Fawn was one she chose herself, to represent her forced new life after being thrown from her tribe for crimes she did unwillingly, and being on unsteady legs that had to strengthen quickly. (Genderlocked to women OR andro or fem-presenting enbys.)
Blake Gautier: Blake is a Cajun man straight from the bayous of Louisiana. Formerly a biker before his life went to shit and known for being quite the flirt, he's also rather useful in social settings, depending. However, he also comes with a temper that often leans on short, and it can be quite easy to push his buttons and incite violence. Underneath it all, he's a man that suffered a great heartache, and while he wants to love again, the idea of facing the same loss can render him fearful of such feelings.
Iris/Irien Faede: Iri is... to put it simply, Iri's what you'd get if you put a bunch of lit firecrackers and bottle rockets in a barrel full of gasoline. Chaotic and prone to doing dangerous things, as well as a pro at making alchemical bombs and pulling off pranks, Iri is a godsdamned handful. It's unknown how Freja and Adontis handle them, but the two do a mostly good job at it. Iri also has many secrets, some of which would hurt those around them if they were to be found out...
Loche: Loche is incredibly slow to trust and has very little understanding of human world social etiquette, given things are very different in their homelands of the Fae Realms. They are struggling to adapt to this new world, even after living in it for three years, and because of that, they are rarely seen away from someone from the team, especially Fawn. However, their usual behavior seems to be utterly forgotten in the MC's presence, much to the confusion of the rest of the team... and Loche themself.
